Institutional Set up of GCT
GCT Program is managed by the Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD), which is an independent, non-profit, organization incorporated under the laws of Qatar. GORD is responsible for managing, overseeing and developing the GCT Program. It maintains an impartial regulator’s position in the voluntary carbon market. GCT is responsible for approving projects and issuing Approved Carbon Emission Reductions (ACRs) and overseeing the Verifiers accredited under the Program. GCT is advised by its Advisory Board and policy matters which is comprising of prominent public/private sector organizations willing to stimulate climate actions in the region. GCT convenes steering committees for technical work and advice and collaborate with national and international experts on specific areas related to projects and standards for greenhouse gas reduction. GCT facilitates the owners of GHG reduction projects through innovative climate finance contributed by project supporters.
